Brisbane’s Cub Sport have served up a handful of intimate tracks, with frontperson Tim Nelson performing for the latest edition of Rolling Stone’s ‘In My Room’, a series in which artists perform from home while in quarantine.

Presented by Green Beacon, the first episode in this special weekly series sees Nelson behind the piano in their home studio, accompanied by dogs Missy and Evie as the set kicks off with a rendition of “O Lord”, from the quartet’s second album, BATS.

As Nelson’s angelic voice is soon accompanied by a truly religious set of organ sounds, the level of emotion is high, with only the most stone-hearted of viewers unable to keep from shedding a tear or two.

“I wrote this one about when Bolan and I first fell in love in secret when we were 17,” Nelson explains before charging into “Party Pill”, “and it feels fitting for Pride Month.”

As Nelson reaches the halfway point of the set, they move the focus forward a little, sharing a few previews of new album, Like Nirvana, which received a 4.5 out of 5 rating from Rolling Stone Australia ahead of its release next month.

Sharing heartfelt renditions of “I Feel Like I Am Changin'” and “Drive”, Tim Nelson proves that not only is Cub Sport’s new album going to be worth the wait, but than the group’s live performances are going to be absolutely heart-rending affairs once live stages welcome bands once again.

Cub Sport are just one of a handful of massive artists set to appear on Rolling Stone’s ‘In My Room’ series, with special performances from Bad//Dreems, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, and Lime Cordiale set to follow thanks to a partnership with Green Beacon.

“Green Beacon loves music and proudly supports Aussie artists,” the Queensland brewery explained. “We’re thrilled to be able to take this to the next level by teaming up with Rolling Stone Australia.

“The arts and music family is doing it tough right now so we couldn’t be more excited about this opportunity to bring some of our favourite bands direct to music fans right around Australia and the world. So enjoy this epic lineup and Make it a Beacon!”
