Following on from her pledge to donate $100,000 to those in need, Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa have teamed up with Sia to search for Australians doing it tough as a result of the events of 2020.

Sia first pledged her money to the station back in August during a discussion with Fitzy & Wippa in which she discussed her charitable side, noting how she had provided belated Christmas presents to an orphan who had repeatedly felt left during the annual holiday.

“[I] set up an Amazon account under the name of Santa Clear and I wrote him a letter from Santa saying it had been my fault and it was an administrative problem at the North Pole,” she explained. “Once a month, I sent him a Christmas present for each year that has been alive. And that’s the kind of thing that makes me feel really really good.”

As host Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald referred to their radio segment called “We’ve Got Your Back”, Sia pledged her money to the cause, noting that, “You guys like to do gooding and I like do gooding so why don’t we do something together, so like, maybe I’ll give you guys 100 grand that you can give out to people?”

“You can decide however you want to make it happen and choose the people who need it most.”

Now, Nova have officially launched their collaboration with Sia, with entries open today for people to nominate someone they feel has been doing it tough in a year ravaged by bushfires and a global pandemic.

“2020 has been a horrible year. It’s been very tough for many Aussies safe together with Sia we are going to be giving away $100,000 to those people who need it the most,’ Fitzy explained.

“The best thing about Sia is how humble she is and understands where she’s come from and how she’s never let her success get to her. Her feet are still so grounded and that’s what I love about her. I feel like she feels like she shouldn’t be in this position and other people should be in it.”

“The great thing about that is just out on a she is, she understands the game,” echoed co-host Michael “Wippa” Wipfli.

“She’s had enormous success and when she talked about celebrity friends she talks like, ‘Oh, I can’t believe I’m actually hanging out with these people I’m just a girl from Adelaide.’ And besides her music, we love her as well, she’s got such a big heart.”

In related news, Sia also served as the cover artist of the newly-released second issue of Rolling Stone Australia, which focuses on her rise to fame, her forthcoming directorial debut, and her noted charitable efforts.
