Windang duo Hockey Dad have announced a second drive-in concert to coincide with their album’s release, following the first event selling out in five minutes.

Originally announced late last month, Hockey Dad revealed to their fans that they would be hitting up Wollongong’s Bulli Showground on July 31st for a special one-off drive-in concert, coinciding with the release of their new album, Brain Candy.

“It’s super exciting to be able to play a show again,” the group explained in a statement.

“The drive-in aspect will make it such a new experience for everybody. The fact we can bring back live music in this way is so cool. It’s a mixture of old school entertainment crossed with a weird futuristic apocalypse vibe.”

Featuring a support slot by The Pinheads, and a viewing of Rage 3, a surf documentary directed by Skegss bassist Toby Cregan, the event was in such high-demand that tickets for the event sold out in just five minutes.

Now, the duo have announced a second performance, set to take place the following night, with The Pinheads again lining up for the event.

“We’re overwhelmed with the support and excitement around these drive in shows,” the group explained.

“Super excited to not only play live again but to get two gigs back to back! Thank you to everybody who has already snagged their spot in the passenger seat!”

Tickets to the event are on sale from 9am AEST on Thursday, June 11th, and are being sold by the car. This means that while only 400 cars will be allowed in, it’s makes financial sense to gather your mates together to help lower the cost – just like you would at any regular drive-in.

Special showbag bundles are also available, which include general admission, in addition to the new album on cassette, a signed poster, sticker, and a few other goodies”.

Meanwhile, ticket sales will also coincide with the release of the new Hockey Dad single, with “Good Eye” being released on Thursday. Pre-saves are available now, while pre-orders for Brain Candy are available now.
