“Back Into It” may be her latest single, but it’s also Vv Pete’s mantra for every move she makes.
Working with producer UTILITY, the Sudanese-Australian artist’s sound has taken centre stage in Australia’s modern hip-hop arena, laying gritty hooks over dance beats to create work that has earned comparison to the likes of Ice Spice and Missy Elliott.
Coming up in Mount Druitt in the wake of drill group ONEFOUR, Vv brings an undeniable force to her career, blending charisma and work ethic to create what have been several incredible years for the musician. Since her debut single “Bussit” in 2022, Vv has opened for Denzel Curry on his Australian tour, headlined at the Sydney Opera House twice, and completed a European tour.
Now officially a member of the Mentos Fresh Sounds Class of ’26, curated by Rolling Stones AU/NZ, Vv Pete spoke with us to break down what the Varvies (her fanbase) can expect from her year ahead.
Who are you and where are you from?
My name’s Vv Pete. I’m an artist from Western Sydney who is determined to continue shaping the music industry both culturally and authentically, through club and rap.

What’s been the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far on your musical journey?
Investment and time leads to organisation and belief.
What’s your dream venue to play?
Qudos Bank Arena [now Afterpay Arena] and Madison Square Garden.
What’s coming up for you in 2026 and beyond?
There are so many new projects. So I’m sorry I seem M.I.A., Varvies. I’m WERKING FOR YOU ALL!!!
What one thing do you think the Australian and/or New Zealand music industry needs right now and why?
Accent authenticity. A lot of our artists are heavily influenced by the US or UK which is amazing but leaving your accent and rapping or singing in another when you’re born and raised here is bananas!
What does it mean to you to be part of the Rolling Stone & Mentos Fresh Sounds Class of ’26?
I’m so happy my ART is gaining a fresh take across Australia and Globally.
Why do you think it’s important to support emerging Australian artists?
We emerging Artists are the future. There’s no future without support from the present.
