Storytelling and atmospheric shoegaze make up sleepazoid’s bread and butter.
The five-piece alt-rock group played their new single “3AM,” putting the universal loneliness of a simple house party to song. Eternally cool, drummer Luca Soprano even played with a cup of tea perched on his kit.
They followed this with “FIG TREE,” another song from their latest EP “NEW AGE.” When asked about the EP, Nette told Rolling Stone AU/NZ that it chronicles a chapter of her life, covering “heartbreak, change, rediscovering my sense of self.”
Building from soft vocals and experimental guitar slides to the punching grunge energy of their post-punk influences, the group has developed a signature style unique amongst Melbourne’s alt-rock scene.
It’s also what’s begun their steady climb to fame. After releasing their self-produced debut EP “running with the dogs,” the group opened for Faye Webster’s sold-out shows in Sydney and Melbourne, before heading to the UK and Ireland for their own international tour. They started 2026 with a performance at Laneway, the highly sought-after festival showcasing national and international acts, before preparing for their own Australian tour.
