Years of rumours and singles have preceded the announcement of Human, the long-awaited fourth album from Australian pop duo The Veronicas.
Sharing the news via Instagram this morning, the group – comprised of sisters Lisa and Jessica Origliasso – revealed that their first album since 2014 will officially be titled Human. The news came as the pair announced that their next single – “Biting My Tongue” – will be released on Friday, July 3rd alongside a trailer for the new record.
It’s currently been almost six years since the release of the group’s self-titled third album, which gave them their third consecutive silver medal on the Australian ARIA charts. The record also spawned singles such as “If You Love Someone” and “You Ruin Me”, with the latter topping the Australian singles chart.
Since the album’s release, The Veronicas have consistently released a number of singles, with 2016’s “In My Blood” serving as another chart-topping effort. While 2018 passed without any new music, the pair returned in 2019 with “Think of Me” and “Ugly”, leading to increased speculation that a new album would arrive in the near future.
Earlier this month, The Runaways’ Cherie Currie discussed working with The Veronicas for her 2019 album Blvds of Splendor, which received a digital release in April.
“The Veronicas are just awesome girls! So talented and giving of their time,” Currie explained of the pair. “I love seeing successful people show their hearts are as big as their success. I hope I get to work with them again. I just love those girls!”
At this stage, the details regarding the release date of Human are unknown, though the arrival of the album trailer on Friday is expected to bring with it further clarity.
