As Tame Impala’s fourth album tends towards its second anniversary, Kevin Parker has unveiled a new single in the lead-up to the deluxe box set reissue of The Slow Rush.
Originally released on February 14th, 2020, The Slow Rush became an important piece of music throughout the last two years, with its arrival coinciding with the last piece of normalcy we experienced before a global pandemic took hold. As such, the record – as brilliant as it is – soon became a comfort for many, with Parker’s luscious production and musical versatility assuring us of his status as a world-class artist.
Now, as things slowly return to normal, February of 2022 will not only see Tame Impala kick off a run of North American tour dates, but will also accompany the release of The Slow Rush’s deluxe box set reissue.
Set for release on February 18th, The Slow Rush deluxe box set will feature the original album on two transparent red LPs and alternate artwork, including a 40-page booklet and The Slow Rush 2050 calendar. Meanwhile, two additional 12″ LPs and one 7″ single will accompany the package, including pre-album single “Patience” (both original and its remix), additional extended versions and remixes, including the Lil Yachty remix of “Breathe Deeper”, and two previously-unheard B-sides.
One of these B-sides, “No Choice”, has been released alongside the reissue’s announcement, and shows Parker at the top of his game while raising the question of how such a dreamy piece of alt-rock didn’t quite make the cut.
While Tame Impala is set to kick off a run of global tour dates early next year (including a headline spot on May’s Hangout Festival in Alabama alongside Post Malone, Halsey, Megan Thee Stallion, Fall Out Boy, and more), Parker and his band are also set to return to Australia in October for some long-awaited (and frequently rescheduled) headline dates.
Tame Impala’s “No Choice” is out now, while the deluxe box set of The Slow Rush will be released on February 18th, 2022, with pre-orders available now.
