With just one month to go until the festive season reaches its peak, H3rizon have beaten Mariah Carey to the punch, sharing their first-ever holiday single, “One More Christmas”.

Officially set for release on Friday, November 26th, “One More Christmas” follows on from the release of July’s “Serious” and sees the trio – comprising Bernadette Marquez (Bernie), Tiara Nyuzo, and Gabrielle Montalbo (Gabby) – taking on a much more festive lean than they have previously.

Inspired by the likes of Mariah Carey and Donny Hathaway, the poppy, R&B-influenced track speaks to longing for that special someone during the holidays, all wrapped up with a sweet and nostalgic – yet undeniably modern – bow.

“The incredible inspiration behind this song is our songwriter Raquelle Gracie’s bittersweet story about her late father,” H3rizon explained in a statement. “She shared with us that her dad passed away a few years back and that she wrote this song thinking of all the things that reminded her of him at Christmas.

“And just as we’d love to connect with someone we missed but couldn’t be with, she’d want one more Christmas with him. We have so much respect for her penmanship and we’re so honoured to be able to deliver her story within this song.”

Undeniably, it’s a gorgeous track, and one that anyone who is missing anyone for any reason can relate to thanks to its touching sentiment and slick production.

“One More Christmas” also comes paired with a seasonal music video, directed by Daniel Sabouné, which sees the trio celebrating the good things the festive season can bring, albeit while overcoming hardships along the way.

“The video clip is based on a lot of Christmas nostalgia… being reminiscent of the past and being grateful for the memories you and your family and friends shared over the years during Christmas,” H3rizon explain.

“In the video, we all have a certain story with our characters and the bittersweet moments in the lives they lived. We worked really closely with the production team to be able to bring certain vulnerabilities to the storyline and really bring it to life.”

While “One More Christmas” might not yet be on the same level as Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” in terms of ubiquity, with almost two million followers on TikTok (and counting), it certainly won’t be long before H3rizon’s latest effort is seen as the gold standard of Aussie Christmas tunes.

H3rizon’s “One More Christmas” is officially released on Friday, November 26th.
