Two of the biggest names in the Australian indie scene have come together one again, with The Jungle Giants remixing “Reasons”, the stellar 2020 single from Fremantle’s San Cisco.
Originally sharing “Reasons” early last year, the track originally featured on San Cisco’s Flaws EP, before later appearing on their fourth album, Between You and Me, when it arrived in September. Arguably one of the most popular tracks released by the group last year, “Reasons” was one of two songs featured in triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2020 (the other being “On The Line”), and the highest-ranked, placing #31 in the full list.
Now, close friends and former tourmates The Jungle Giants have shared their own version of the track, reworking the smooth track and turning it into a veritable dancefloor-ready banger.
“The year was 2010,” San Cisco reminisced in an accompanying statement, recalling a tour that actually took place in 2012. “We were young, naive, wide-eyed, about to embark on our first ever co-headlining tour with a band who we had never heard of, The Jungle Giants.
“The tour was an absolute blast and we have been best of friends ever since. Fast forward 11 years, many albums later and we are still kicking going the music thing. Wrap your ears around the sizzling new remix of our song ‘Reasons’ by our great mates The Jungle Giants.”
“After nearly 10 years of friendship it felt about time we hugged musically,” echoed The Jungle Giants’ Sam Hale. “I had heaps of fun getting deep into the track and taking it on a little journey. Friends forever baby.”
While there’s no word yet as to when San Cisco might return the favour, The Jungle Giants are reportedly set to release their latest record sometime in the near future, so be sure to stay tuned.
