More than a year after first hitting the road, Melbourne rockers Kingswood have announced they’ll be taking to the stage in Melbourne to give their Juveniles album the proper showcase it deserves.
Released on March 13th last year, the arrival of Juveniles coincided with the announcement of far-reaching restrictions on gatherings in Australia. Unfortunately for Kingswood, these restrictions also came just after the beginning of their accompanying album tour, with the band forced to abandon the tour after just three shows.
“Even if we went ahead with the tour, to pressure people into coming against the advice of the Government, to say, ‘We’re playing, we want you all to come anyway,’” frontman Fergus Linacre told Rolling Stone last year, “I think just would’ve created an environment that just was not conducive to us performing, creating a party atmosphere and having a lot of fun together.”
Now, after recording a live studio set, reimagining Juveniles as the Americana-tinged Reveries, releasing a Christmas album, and holding a series of live performances in Melbourne, Kingswood are finally set to give their third studio album the proper headline date it deserves, announcing a one-off show at Melbourne’s Palais Theatre on Saturday, June 5th.
“To be playing one of the biggest shows in the band’s history, at a venue that has been a bucket list headline dream, in a time where a worldly plague is causing so much chaos…feels like alchemy, feels wrong – the kind of wrong that you know is just so damned right,” explained Kingswood’s Alex Laska.
“Taking place in the city we love, our city, Melbourne. The city that withstood, persevered, and succeeded. The best city in the world. It will be the event of the year and so say all of us!”
Supported by Cry Club, Shannen James in solo form, and Psychobabel, tickets to the upcoming show go on sale from Friday, March 26th, with pre-sales beginning today. Read on for full details.
