Jimmy Barnes and his 12-piece band will reimagine the biggest album of his career with the new Soul Deep 30 album and tour.

Three decades ago, Soul Deep became one of Barnes’ most acclaimed releases. The stunning collection of 60’s R&B was certified 10x platinum in Australia and remains his highest-selling album ever. Soul Deep also earned him the 1992 ARIA Award for Best Male Artist.

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, the iconic album has now been reimagined and extended for the suitably-titled Soul Deep 30. The 12 original Soul Deep recordings have been remastered by Bob Ludwig, with additional production from Don Gehman.

The reimagined album also includes three brand-new recordings: “Soothe Me”, a new version of the 1967 Sam & Dave hit, “Do You Love Me”, featuring the soulful vocals of The Teskey Brothers’ Josh Teskey, and “Reflections”, with a guest appearance from Ian Moss.

Accompanied by his 12-piece band, Barnes will tour around Australia this June and July in support of the forthcoming album. The Soul Deep 30 tour begins in Adelaide on Thursday, June 16th, heading to Melbourne and Sydney before concluding in Brisbane on Saturday, July 2nd.

Barnes and his band will also be joined by special guests on the tour, including The Teskey Brothers (excluding Adelaide), David Campbell (Adelaide only), and Mahalia Barnes + The Soul Mates (all dates).

The Soul Deep 30 tour will attempt to recapture some of the magic of the classic original Soul Deep tour, with Barnes’ 12-piece band performing all the hits off this album as well lots of other R&B classics.

“I’ve always been particularly proud of Soul Deep,” Barnes says. “It was made for all the right reasons and there was something magical about the way it struck a chord with so many people. here’s a reason that all those great sixties songs are called “timeless” – the raw stories they tell make sense to every generation.

I’m really looking forward to revisiting this music again live after all these years too. Hopefully we can remind people why they enjoyed this album so much first time around while also introducing it to a whole new audience.”

Pre-sale tickets for the tour are available to jimmybarnes.com subscribers or via frontiertouring.com/jimmybarnes from Tuesday, April 26th (11am local time). Tickets then go on sale to the general public from Thursday, April 28th (10am local time).
