Zach Stephenson, one half of Windang duo Hockey Dad, has shared a handful of stripped-back gems for the latest edition of Rolling Stone’s ‘In My Room’, a series in which artists perform from home while in quarantine.

This year has undoubtedly been a big one for Hockey Dad, despite the widespread hassles of 2020 that seem to have put everything on hold. Originally set to release their latest album, Brain Candy, back in May, issues surrounding COVID-19 saw the pair push back the record until just last week, while accompanying gigs were also postponed from earlier in the year.

Meanwhile, a pair of album launch drive-in shows were pushed back due to extreme weather, making the Hockey Dad lads some of the most resilient musicians on the scene.

To help tide fans over until the group are able to return to the live stage, Stephenson grabbed his acoustic guitar and went into the kitchen, dishing out a three-course taster of tracks from Brain Candy. Kicking things off with “Itch”, Stephenson showcases his skills with his impassioned vocals and melodic playing.

Wrapping things up with “Good Eye” and “Nestle Down”, Stephenson casually signs off with a jovial farewell, undoubtedly leaving fans eager to hear more of what is arguably one of the finest Australian albums of the year.
