Having shared a number of well-received songs since her appearance on the scene back in 2017, Australia’s “princess of dark pop” CXLOE has now shared her latest track, “Heavy”, as the latest taste of her debut EP.

The new single follows on from the release of “12 Steps” and “One and Lonely” in recent months, with “Heavy” continuing the atmospheric, dark pop sound that she’s become renowned for.

“‘Heavy’ is all about the feeling I feel most days,” CXLOE explains in a statement. “The song talks about a relationship that was once light and full of love but now carries too much weight to handle. I feel this extreme switch with a lot of things in my life and most of the time it’s self-sabotage. Another beautiful trait of mine.”

The track is set to serve as the (almost) title track to her forthcoming EP, Heavy, Pt. 1, which arrives on October 16th. Working alongside co-writers such Michael Pollack, The Futuristics, Trey Campbell, Kito, Casey Smith, and Boyboy, including producer Andrew Wells (Halsey, Bebe Rexha), the end result is a powerful one, and an EP that will cement CXLOE’s status as one of Australia’s next big musical exports.

Across six tracks, CXLOE manages to adopt two seperate personas – CXLOE and Chloe – as a means of establishing a dual experience, with the former characterised by darkness, complexity, depth, sharpness, and extremes, and the latter showcasing a side that is warm, organic, vulnerable, and wholesome.

“For a long time I struggled with the two sides – I thought I had to choose one way or the other,” CXLOE explains. “But as I’ve grown as a person and an artist, and in the process of creating my music and this EP, I’ve realised that both sides wouldn’t function without the other.”

CXLOE’s “Heavy” is officially out now, while her Heavy, Pt. 1 EP is set to be released on Friday, October 16th, with pre-saves available now.
