Bag Raiders have returned with their first new music of the year.

“Love Me Back” keeps the energy high and is an unabashed love letter to the club dancefloor – it’s fast, frenetic, and boasts an infectious melody made for repeat listens.

The electronic duo had a particular vision in mind for the track. “We were doing some sessions with Meg Mac and Tim Ayre working on a whole bunch of stuff. Pop music, indie, trip-hop, just going nutso really, getting down whatever came out. Around the same time we had this idea for a club track where the breakdown was a long chordal thing and the drop was the same but all cut up. Very simple stuff,” they explain.

“We wanted it to sound like we’d sampled an old funk record or something, so we got out the violins and guitars and recorded a bunch of stuff, layered some extra vocals tucked in there, and then chopped that all up. Because this was all happening at the same time we thought, ‘hang on… what if we steal a Meg vocal from one session, pitch it up and turn it into a rave vocal in the other?’

“Bag Raider style! We went from indie rock to club banger in 4 semitones and 20 extra BPM.”

Luckily for the pair, Meg approved of their idea, and “Love Me Back” was born. You can listen to the track below, which follows several 2022 Bag Raiders singles, including the 2-step-influenced “Never Forget” and the dynamic “UR Heart”.

It’s unclear if these singles will form a new album, with Bag Raiders last releasing a full-length album in 2019 with Horizons.

They have a lot of shows lined up over the coming months, including an appearance at SPRINGTIME in Gold Coast on September 1st. They’ll then perform across the US in October and November, including stops in Miami, Chicago, Brooklyn, and Seattle.

Earlier this year, Bag Raiders took part in the 2023 edition of Jim Beam Welcome Sessions, heading to Adelaide in March for a massive DJ set. The pair bought a can’t-help-but-dance set to The Moseley Bar & Kitchen, turning the beachside location into what felt like a classic house venue.

Bag Raiders’ “Love Me Back” is out now.
