Summer Thieves’ new album, Cigarettes in Space, is steeped in the reggae/pop-rock tradition of fellow successful Kiwi bands like Six60, Coterie, and L.A.B, but it isn’t necessarily a bad formula to follow.

Songs have encapsulating titles like “Sunshine” and “Bali Nights”, and the Dunedin band’s sound is ready-made for the summer festival circuit. Languorous and relaxed, Summer Thieves will undoubtedly have crowds swaying to their songs in no time.
