UPDATE (30/3): The Foo Fighters have today announced the cancellation of their upcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand in the wake of drummer Taylor Hawkins’ untimely passing.
Having announced their national tour following their one-off performance in Geelong earlier this month, the group’s tour was immediately clouded with uncertainty following Hawkins’ death over the weekend.
“It is with great sadness that Foo Fighters confirm the cancellation of all upcoming tour dates in light of the staggering loss of our brother Taylor Hawkins,” the band said in a statement. “We’re sorry for and share in the disappointment that we won’t be seeing one another as planned. Instead, let’s take this time to grieve, to heal, to pull our loved ones close, and to appreciate all the music and memories we’ve made together.”
Ticketholders for the upcoming shows will be automatically refunded, though any questions should be directed to Ticketek Australia.

Fresh off their historic Geelong concert last Friday, Frontier Touring has announced that the Foo Fighters will return to Australia and New Zealand for a stadium tour in November and December of 2022.
The rock icons played the first stadium concert in the country in two long years last week as part of the newly-announced ALWAYS LIVE series. While onstage, Dave Grohl teased that they would be making their return to the country in November.
Now, the 2021 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees have announced that they will perform in Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, Wellington, and Auckland in their first headline tour of both countries since 2018.
Foo Fighters will be joined by some special guests on tour. Queensland punk rock trio The Chats will provide support in Perth, Sydney, and Brisbane. They’ve previously toured with other rock heavyweights like Queens of the Stone Age, and have sold out shows in Australia, New Zealand, and Europe.
After supporting at the Geelong concert, acclaimed Melbourne punks Amyl and the Sniffers will rejoin Foo Fighters in Wellington and Auckland. Their 2021 album Comfort to Me debuted at number two in Australia and won an ARIA Award for Best Rock Album.
Putting a modern spin on the Riot Grrrl era, Melbourne’s Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers will perform in Melbourne. Formed while still in high school, the band have since honed their skills with sets at Groovin’ The Moo, Laneway, Lost Paradise, and Spilt Milk.
England emo power pop duo Hot Milk will venture to Australia for the very first time as they support the Food’ in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney, while former triple j unearthed high winners Teenage Joans will share the stage in Perth. Dick Move, meanwhile, will bring their energetic live show to Wellington and Auckland.
