War Child Australia will release Forever Young, a compilation of unreleased tracks, rare covers and original recordings by Australian artists, set for release on Friday, November 20th.
It is the first Australian artist initiative for War Child’s global cause, with all artists donating their music to support children living through conflict.
The lineup includes Paul Kelly, Missy Higgins, Sarah Blasko with a new song, “Dance On Fire,” and Ruel with an acoustic version of Crosby, Stills & Nash’s “Helplessly Hoping.” Also contributing are King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Grace Cummings, Augie March / Glenn Richards, Loose Content, Any Young Mechanic, Milly Strange, Dappled Cities, William Crighton and The Nagging Doubts.
The lead double-single is also out now – The Temper Trap’s cover of The Triffids’ “Wide Open Road” and the ‘Forever Young 2026 Flashback Remix’ by Youth Group and Paul Mac, which marks the 20th anniversary of Youth Group’s No. 1 single.
Every purchase will have an impact. $60 vinyl could help reunite a child with their family, and a $30 CD could provide education kits, including solar lamps, for two children. A $50 T-shirt could fund a teacher’s trauma-support kit, and the $100 vinyl and T-shirt bundle covers both the family reunification and the education kits for two more children.
“I love how War Child thinks about the role of music, in helping be a force for good,” Toby Martin of Youth Group said.
“It is really easy to get incredibly dismayed by war and violence, and cynical about the possibility for change, but hopefully projects like this help us to change our thinking a bit. We are really proud to be a part of this, to collaborate with them and help provide more exposure and funding for them.”
