Fergie could be heading Down Under for the 2027 Australian Open.

A Melbourne content creator, Renee Buckingham, sparked speculation that the Black Eyed Peas star will headline the tournament’s music program. Buckingham attended the AO 2027 launch lunch at Melbourne Park last week, where she says guests were told to expect “a lot of bigger personalities and a lot of fem energy”, along with the words “glamour or glamorous.”

The Australian Open’s official TikTok account has since commented on the video with a suggestive eyes-peering-over-sunglasses meme. Other viewers responded too, with one writing “OMFG” and Buckingham replying, “You heard it here first.”

The “glamorous” hint is what led Buckingham to Fergie, whose 2007 single “Glamorous”, featuring Ludacris, reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. It was the second of three US number ones from her 2006 debut solo album The Dutchess, following “London Bridge”.

It’s coincidental timing, with the Black Eyed Peas set to headline Beyond The Valley over New Year’s, in their only Australian show of the year.

Fergie left the group in 2018, but after she reunited with will.i.am, apl.de.ap and Taboo at the American Music Awards in May to accept Best Throwback Song for “Rock That Bod”, are we so wrong for thinking this could mean a surprise BTV appearance as well?

Of course, nothing has been confirmed yet, but we’re keeping our eyes and ears open for a heavy dose of 00s nostalgia courtside.
