Megan Washington has shared the latest cut from her forthcoming album, releasing “Kiss Me Like We’re Gonna Die” earlier today.

Announcing the single’s release via social media today, “Kiss Me Like We’re Gonna Die” serves as the third track from the artist this year, following on from the likes of “Dark Parts” back in May, and “Switches” the following month.

Featuring a soulful vocal from the mononymous musician, with a pulsing beat appearing throughout, it’s an eclectic number, which showcases everything that has made Washington great over the years.

“Kiss Me Like We’re Gonna Die” is set to appear on Washington’s forthcoming record, Batflowers, which she announced late last month.

Described as “an exercise in getting to the raw guts of why anyone makes music at all”, Batflowers sees Washington taking the charge in the majority of the creative process.

Harnessing what is likened to “Kanye-esque confidence”, the ARIA Award-winner has spearheaded almost every aspect of the new record, including songwriting, art direction, photography, frame-by frame hand animation, engineering, A&R, and music video directing.

“I’ve realised this is where I’m strongest – being given complete trust and full creative freedom in my work,” Washington explained of the process. “My incredible team enabled me to be involved on every level of the creative process and let me get as weird as I want. It’s a fantastic feeling.”

For those eager to hear Washington performing live again, they won’t have to wait terribly long, with “Kiss Me Like We’re Gonna Die” set to receive its televised debut later this evening when Washington appears on Q&A alongside Elana Stone, Ngaiire, and Mahalia Barnes.

Washington previously shared a stripped-back version of the song earlier this month, uploading the performance onto her YouTube account (which can be seen below).

Batflowers is officially set to be released on August 28th, with pre-saves available now.
