Troye Sivan has begun to offer fans new music while quarantined during the COVID-19 global pandemic.

While much of the last month has been heavily focused on the impact and spread of COVID-19, the music world has turned its attention on just what it means for the industry as a whole. Though initiatives like Sound of Silence have been set up to ensure artists stay afloat during this tough time, fewer artists have been releasing new music due to the current state of affairs.

However, with many citizens around the world in self-isolation, it appears that the creative juices have been flowing, leaving some musicians eager to get back on the horse.

One such musician was Australia’s own Troye Sivan, who took to social media on Friday to announce that he’s “leaking music” following close to a week in quarantine.

“We’re going rogue,” in a post on Instagram “@capitolrecords @emimusicau I would like to release new music I just decided.

“Freelance artists (graphic designers, animation artists) HMU I want to work with you and take the money I would be spending on music videos and give it to you. This is a tough and scary time and I feel so lucky to have music and art to get me through emotionally and financially and I want to share that so bad.”

Admitting that he hadn’t “really spoken to anyone about it yet”, Sivan added that this music would be released “soon as hell”. On Sunday though, he appeared to be kicking things off, sharing a video on Twitter which shows him sneakily premiering a new tune to his followers.

Currently untitled, the snippet of the track has already generated mass excitement amongst his fans, who have pushed for Sivan to not only leak more new music, but share a solid release date for them to look forward to.

Though he noted he’s “already in so much trouble” for doing so, a Tweet from earlier today saw Sivan claim he hopes to announce a release date on Monday, claiming he’s “waiting for one more thing to be confirmed” before he does so.

While it remains to be seen how much music Troye Sivan plans to release, it serves as something of an insight into just how creative some of music’s most acclaimed talents truly have been while quarantined.
