Byron Bay electronic outfit Tora have released their new album, Temps De Flors.

Springing into new sounds, the album fuses punchy dance beats with futuristic elements while embracing stripped-back, intimate moments.

The title, Catalan for “Time of the Flowers,” reflects the album’s springtime recording sessions in Catalonia in northeastern Spain.

Temps De Flors delivers 13 songs that all are quite different to one another, yet belong together as one larger story,” Tora say of the album. “The ongoing theme throughout the album is a feeling of moving from darkness into light, turning difficult times into prosperous times, a blossoming of spring in all senses, revelations, revolutions, innovations leading to abundance.”

The focus track, “Fear Becomes A Friend,” reflects on singer Jo Loewenthal’s personal journey through time, dreams, and freedom. Loewenthal describes it as a mix of dreamy verses and an upbeat chorus, capturing warm European summers and nostalgia.

“The title fear becomes a friend is a nod to the slow acceptance that moving ceaselessly forward in life is a beautiful thing and should not feared,” Loewenthal explains. “‘Fear Becomes A Friend’ flirts between the lines a of dreamy verse and a driven chorus. Both capture the essence of what inspired the track, warm weather, dreamy nights, long days in the European summer, delirium. Lyrically it sits heavily on themes of nostalgia, childhood, dreams, and freedom.”

To celebrate the release, Tora will embark on a world tour across Europe, America, and Australia. In Australia, they’ll perform in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane (see full details below).

Their new live show will mix old favourites with fresh tracks, promising an emotional journey with dance hits and deep bass. American shows will feature Montreal duo Mayfly and Australian artist Milan Ring, with more support acts to be announced.

“We took our time to reimagine our live show, with a whole new set combining songs from all 3 of our old albums plus the new album. Bringing listeners on an emotional journey, with some of our slow jams, singalongs, and a whole bunch of dance bangers, one things for sure we’ve packed some thick bass in our suitcase. Really looking forward to bringing this new music to the world,” Tora say.

Temps De Flors follows Tora’s third album, A Force Majeure, released in 2021. Revisit their stellar renditions of “Call On Me” and “In Deeper” for Rolling Stone AU/NZ’s ‘In My Room’ series.
