Tones And I might be currently unable to continue touring the world due to COVID-19, but that hasn’t stopped the artist from sharing the video for her new single, “Bad Child”.
First released last month, “Bad Child” was paired with another single, “Can’t Be Happy All the Time”, with the latter quickly finding its way up to #15 on the ARIA singles chart.
“I’ve always wanted to write a song in someone else’s shoes; writing from their perspective,” Tones said of the track. “”Bad Child” was the first time I got to do that. It’s seeing life growing up through someone else’s eyes.”
Now, Tones has managed to put the track into context, teaming up with the production team at Visible Studios and working with directors Liam Kelly & Nick Kozakis, the surreal clip showcases a childlike sense of exploration, while the directorial style evokes memories of horror films such as The Shining and Get Out from time to time.
Serving as a testament to her massive success and popularity, the official animated clip for “Bad Child” already has close to three million views in just under a month, with this new video set to close in on that number in no time.
While Tones And I was set to be touring around Australia on a headline tour next month, the current COVID-19 pandemic has seen these local dates pushed back to September and October.
Of course, if you’re still on the lookout for a Tones And I fix, you can find her gracing the cover of the debut issue of Rolling Stone Australia when it launches next month.
Featuring an eight-page cover feature, featuring exclusive photography by Giulia McGauran (GG McG) and a poster, Rolling Stone Australia spent time at Tones’ home, met with her friends, and was a fly on the wall backstage at one of Australia’s biggest festivals. Subscriptions for the debut issue of the magazine are available now.
