Tones And I is about to embark on her latest run of headline dates, announcing an Australian tour earlier today.

There’s no denying the fact that Tones And I has had an absolutely stellar year. Within the space of just 12 months, Toni Watson managed to go from being a busker in Byron Bay to not only topping charts around the world with her song “Dance Monkey”, but breaking records left and right, capturing the attention of icons such as Elton John, and recently hitting one billion streams for the single.

Having recently wrapped up a run of shows as part of the Laneway Festival lineup, fans realised that a larger tour would be arriving sometime soon after the musician closed her set by revealing she would see us again in May.

Soon after, an interview with Nova 919’s Ben & Liam saw Tones explain that these upcoming tour dates would see her taking a stand against bullying in schools.

“I want to do this whole big anti-bullying tour,” she explained. “So I’ll be back for a tour soon which I will announce next week, and then during the night times I will be playing my shows, like your normal tour shows, but during the day times I’m going around to high schools to play there.

“We’re just doing it free of charge and we haven’t announced that yet, but it’ll be high schools that are working towards a better quality of socialism in a school.

“So they do anti-bullying essays about how their school has worked towards anti bullying and to teach people it’s not okay and to open up, and then we’re going pick the schools based on those essays and then we’re going to go around with the guys – like Adrian Eagle, Jakubi – and do shows at these schools and promote anti-bullying.”

As it turned out, fans didn’t have to wait until next week to hear more about these upcoming dates after all, with Tones today announcing a five-date tour which will keep her busy throughout May. Kicking off with a hometown show in Melbourne, the tour will visit Brisbane, Sydney, and Hobart, before wrapping up in Fremantle on May 29.

At this stage, Tones hasn’t revealed details about her anti-bullying component to the tour, though we can only assume that details will be released soon. Check out the full list of dates below.
