Tkay Maidza is going on a record release tour.
The rapper and singer-songwriter has announced two headline dates in November: an 18+ show at The Forum in Melbourne on Thursday, November 23rd, followed by an all ages show at Sydney’s UNSW Roundhouse on Tuesday, November 28th (see full details below).
Tickets to the two shows go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, October 18th at 10am local time, while the Frontier Members pre-sale begins on Monday, October 16th at 10am local time.
“Excited to come back and play headline shows after all the supports and festivals this year – it’s always so special playing and it feels like a celebration,” Tkay says.
The artist is touring in support of her forthcoming second album, Sweet Justice, set for release at the beginning of November. It’s the eagerly-anticipated follow-up to her 2016 self-titled debut, which earned two nominations at the 2017 ARIA Awards (Best Urban Album and Breakthrough Artist).
According to a press release, Sweet Justice is “a breakup record” in the traditional sense, with the songs detailing Maidza’s battles to overcome her self-doubt and warped sense of self.
“Sweet Justice was a way for me to channel my emotions from what I’ve experienced in the last two years,” Tkay says. “It’s a diary of things and thoughts I’ve kept to myself. Making the record was a healing experience and I’m grateful to have worked with producers who have inspired me throughout my career.””
The album features the singles “Silent Assassin”, a thrilling collaboration with Flume, “Ring-a-Ling”, a track about finding confidence in one’s self, and her latest release “Out of Luck”, in which Tkay confidently calls out time wasters.
