Tkay Maidza has released her first lead single of 2023, “Silent Assassin”.
Produced by Flume, the track is anthem of self-empowerment and self-confidence, the sound of two artists at the top of their game combining to strong effect.
“I like to move in silence, but this song is a reminder that people shouldn’t count me out or underestimate my abilities; they should be afraid when I’m quiet as I come back more evolved,” Tkay says.
Attracting the superstar producer had been an aim of Tkay’s for a while. “I’ve always wanted to work with Flume and was immediately ecstatic when he played the instrumental for this,” she adds. “I wanted to channel Busta Rhymes and Missy Elliott.”

Tkay also joined with artist Liron Eini to create four unique single covers that “embody each of the song’s energy and story.” “This is the first! She a lone wolf that moves in silence, don’t underestimate her,” Tkay wrote about the cover for “Silent Assassin”
Earlier this year, Tkay stole the show on “Show Me the Money”, a collaboration with Snakehips. “Acclaimed electronic duo Snakehips are highly selective when it comes to their collaborators, and there was no chance that working with Tkay Maidza wouldn’t pay off,” Rolling Stone AU/NZ wrote in naming “Show Me the Money” as a Song You Need to Know.
