In the absence of live shows around the country, Ticketmaster Australia are stepping up to provide music fans with a chance to catch their favourite acts in the comfort of their own home.
With the Australian live music scene looking pretty barren right now, countless artists have been using this opportunity to go live on social media, bringing the live shows their fans would have missed out on direct to the people.
While it remains to be seen just how this massive amount of livestreamed concerts will effect the live music industry in the future, this method has also been used for good as well, with festivals like Isol-Aid being held to also raise money for organisations such as Support Act.
Now, Ticketmaster Australia are offering fans the chance to catch some stunning local musicians performing live, all from the comfort of their own home.
“With the sudden cancellation of live shows, festivals, and tours for the foreseeable future, there are so many incredible musicians and their incredible teams – from roadies to sound techs, managers, publicists, and the army it takes to bring music to you every night – who are looking at an indefinite period without consistent work,” Ticketmaster Australia explained in a statement.
“That’s where the incredible team at Support Act step in. While the Sound of Silence campaign is now in full swing, Support Act have been providing crisis assistance and care to our industry since 1997.
“We also know that the current social distancing and isolation can be really hard for everyone, so at Ticketmaster HQ we wanted to find a way to bring everyone together for an afternoon to share something that we love and are so grateful to have in abundance – live music.
“Today, Tuesday 31 March, we will be broadcasting sets from some of our favourite local musicians. From wherever they are bunkering down – in their loungerooms, bedrooms, gardens, or studios, they’ll be bringing us a sweet little set streamed to you live over on Ticketmaster’s Facebook Page.”
With performances from Alice Skye, Fan Girl, Lonelyspeck, Will Cumming (Lanks/Lindsay), Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, and more on offer, all fans have to do is head over to the Ticketmaster Australia Facebook page and tune in.
Check out a full list of set times tomorrow, and be sure to donate to Support Act if you have the means.
