The Rubens have today shared the details of their newly-announced tour dates, having rescheduled their national Live in Life tour, which was scheduled to kick off in mid-May.
First announced in late February, the trek was plotted in support of their “Live in Life” single, which went on to reach #105 in the 2019 Hottest 100. Unfortunately, restrictions due to the global COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the group’s 27-date run of shows being postponed.
Releasing their new single “Heavy Weather” last month, The Rubens revealed that while “re-routing these many dates has been a challenge”, the pandemic also affected the sessions for their forthcoming record.
“We were meant to deliver our new record right now for a release later this year,” they explained. “We were SO bloody close to finishing but for obvious reasons we can’t all get in the studio right now, so that’s been pushed back to 2021.”
Now, the band have revealed that their tour is set to go ahead later in the year, with the tour not only expanding by one show, but now kicking off in Sydney on September 17th.
Running for just under three months, the marathon tour will see The Rubens performing at capital cities, regional venues, and even Darwin’s Bass in the Grass festival. Support for the majority of these shows will come by way of Alice Ivy, who will play alongside the group at most shows, except for their Warrnambool date, and their Western Australia run.
While information regarding ticketing can be found via The Rubens’ website, the band are also offering fans the chance to be in the video clip for “Heavy Weather”. Applications close on May 7th, with more information available via the clip’s information site.
