Despite a year which was supposed to see the release of their new album, The Rubens have continued to adapt to the changing landscape, unleashing their latest single, “Time of My Life”, today.
The new single comes alongside the news that the band’s “Live in Life” had been certified Double Platinum, and sees the group delivering a track full of introspection and hope, as they utilise a massive hook to muse over fear of the unknown and missed opportunities.
“We wrote this track in a much simpler time, yet the hopefulness of this song feels so relevant and important to right now,” the group explained. “Our inbox has been flooded by young people (particularly those about to graduate year 12) feeling really confused and apprehensive about the future, when this should be the time of their lives.
“So we hope this song helps those people feel heard, supported and inspired knowing there’s still so much to come and to look forward to.”
The track follows on from the release of “Heavy Weather” back in April, and the newly-released remix package of “Live in Life”, which arrived last month.
Notably, The Rubens have had many of their plans for 2020 affected by the global COVID-19 pandemic. While plans to polish off their new record were put on hold, both a tour and its rescheduled dates were also pushed back, with the group set to hit the road for an extensive trek around the country in April of 2021.
