The Rubens have kept the new music coming with the release of “Good Mood”.
The energised track delves into the idea that sometimes, amid chaos and adversity, you can feel more alive. Or as The Rubens put it themselves, “Sometimes things fall down and you feel more alive. Like having a cold beer on the balcony of a house that’s on fire.”
With danceable pop production helmed by frequent collaborator Konstantin Kersting (Genesis Owusu, Peach PCR, The Jungle Giants) known for his work on the band’s 2021 chart-topping album, 0202, the lively track is a surefire contender for frequent summer rotation.
To go with today’s single release, the Sydney five-piece has also announced a 13-date summer tour in January with support from Sunshine Coast-via-New Zealand band Day We Ran.
And if that wasn’t enough, they’ve also revealed that their hometown festival ValleyWays will return to Camden on Saturday, February 17th featuring artists like Grinspoon, Ball Park Music, Ruby Fields, Coterie, Srirachi, and more.
“Good Mood” follows the existential themes and stirring alt-rock grooves of “Pet Shops”, released in May, and their recent Splitz Enz cover “One Step Ahead” for Mushroom 50.
The Rubens feature on the cover of the Rolling Stone Movember Zine, a limited edition run of just 20,000 copies available in cafes, sporting clubs, barber shops, and community centres, aiming to raise awareness for Movember and its multiple initiatives.
