The Rubens Share Fan Video for Latest Single, ‘Heavy Weather’

First announced back in April, The Rubens called upon hundreds of fans to appear in the clip for their most recent single.

The Rubens have made good on their promise for a new music video, sharing the new fan-shot clip for their latest single, “Heavy Weather”.

Announcing the concept for the video alongside the release of the single back in April, the group explained that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they were forced to think outside the box somewhat, stating that they wanted to give back to the people who had supported them all along

“Given the set back with our tour, we wanted to acknowledge our fans somehow,” The Rubens said, noting they were inviting their fans from all around the world to “send in videos of them doing anything they’re doing right now”.

Following countless submissions from fans, which were then meticulously edited and sewn together by director Russell Fitzgibbon, the clip was officially premiered yesterday via an exclusive Zoom call with those who starred in the video. In keeping with the organic nature of the clip and its release, the unlisted link was then shared with fans who were allowed to give the clip their own personal premiere on social media.

“Heavy Weather” serves as another taste of the group’s upcoming album, which has been pushed back due to the global pandemic.

“On the recording front, we were meant to deliver our new record right now for a release later this year,” the group explained alongside the single’s release. “We were SO bloody close to finishing but for obvious reasons we can’t all get in the studio right now, so that’s been pushed back to 2021.”

Thankfully, The Rubens recently unveiled a run of rescheduled tour dates, set to kick off in September. Tickets to these dates are on sale now, though there’s no word if fans will receive a taste of yet-to-be released music during these shows.
