Rhythm and Alps has added Synthony to its 2025 lineup, as it gears up for its biggest event yet.

Synthony fuses a 60-piece orchestra with DJs, live vocalists and immersive visuals to create electronic dance anthems, including renditions of hits like Corona’s “Rhythm of the Night”, Darude’s “Sandstorm”, and Fisher’s “Losing It”.

They will return in 2025, following “many, many requests for their return” following their 2023 appearance at the festival.

The group has gone from attracting 2,000 people to crowds of over 20,000 in a matter of years, becoming of Australasia’s most popular events.

Snythony joins a killer lineup of international and local artists, including UK acts Rudimental, Santigold and Dizzee Rascal and popular New Zealand performers such as The Black Seeds, Chaos In The CBD, Halfqueen, Corrella, and Lady Shaka.

Organisers have promised more artist announcements in the coming weeks.

The festival will take place from December 29th-31st at Cardrona Valley, near Queenstown and Wānaka, and expects to draw over 10,000 attendees.

Campers’ Night will also return on December 29th with an upgraded premium camping zone and exclusive performances, though tickets for this day are limited to 1,000. Festival-goers can expect three days of music paired with stunning mountain scenery, just a short drive from both Queenstown and Wānaka.

In related news, Northern Bass, another New Zealand festival known for its electronic music, is returning in 2025 under a new name, JNGL25. After 13 years, the event has been scaled back from a three-day format to a two-day event centered on the Jungle Stage.

Due to rising production costs and lower-than-expected attendance last year, capacity will be reduced to around 6,000, roughly half of previous years. Ticketing will focus on more affordable one and two-day passes to encourage wider access.

Tickets are on sale now. For more information on Rhythm and Alps, visit rhythmandalps.co.nz.
