Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody wants to get back to Australia.
We caught up with the Irish musician to discuss “These Alarms”, Snow Patrol’s incredible new collaboration with Kylie Minogue, but the prospect of an Australian tour was also a hot topic of discussion.
According to Lightbody, Snow Patrol are more than ready for a return Down Under.
“All the time we’re asking our agent, we’re asking the promoters out there, ‘When can we come back?’” he told us. “We are on it. Believe us, we’re trying our very best.”
Snow Patrol last toured Australia in 2019, bringing their ‘Live and Acoustic’ tour to cities around the country. The band have a strong following on these shores, with four of their eight albums reaching the top 40 on the ARIA Albums Chart.
Snow Patrol released “These Alarms” last month, which the band penned with Kylie specifically in mind. The song was initially recorded for their most recent album, 2024’s The Forest Is the Path, under the working title “KYLIE”.
However, upon completion, they decided to hold the song back until they could record it with the Australian legend.

“We got to the end of it and realised that there was one very key element that was missing from the song, which was Kylie’s voice,” Lightbody said in our interview. “So we upped our search to get the song to her, and it found its way to her and she liked it. And when she sang on it, it’s the first time it felt finished.
“It was always meant to be for her.”
Lightbody also recalled performing the song live for the first time with Kylie in front of thousands of fans at London’s Crystal Palace Park, captured in the song’s accompanying music video (watch above).
“She is 50 times the performer that I am,” Lightbody admitted. “I was like, ‘Oh, this is an actual frontperson.’ She was effortless and just super cool, and had the whole audience in the back of her hand within seconds. Something that takes me more than seconds, I’ll tell you that.”
