After a handful of new singles, beloved electronic trio RÜFÜS DU SOL have unveiled the details of their long-awaited fourth album, with Surrender set to arrive late next month.
Having suffered through the events of 2020 and 2021 like the rest of us, RÜFÜS DU SOL made their official return from the darkness back in mid July, sharing new single “Alive”. A cathartic, comforting hand following a difficult time, the track was one that clearly meant a lot of the trio, and before long, they’d followed it up with recent single, “Next to Me”.
Now, as they get closer to the release of their new album, the group have shared their latest track, with “On My Knees” arriving today.
A brooding insight into the group’s darker tendencies, the track sees the group eschewing ideas of hope or love as seen on recent singles to venture into a space of anguish, sonically referencing the industrial sounds of Nine Inch Nails as they build upon the sort of lyrical intensity on which they’ve built their career.
“For this song we had a lot of fun writing something that was darker, driving and a little more edgy,” explains James Hunt. “It’s definitely one of the most banging tracks on the record – we referenced some of our favourite club music for the drum programming and had fun envisioning the time when we could finally play this live. It had an amazing reaction at our Red Rocks shows last month which was really special for us.”
“On My Knees” is set to feature on the group’s new record, Surrender, which is on track to release on October 22nd. Working from a DIY ground floor Hollywood apartment studio, the resulting record is one that sees three artists bonding via music, transcending the intimacy of the world they built together as they explore new ground in terms of boldness and bravery. In short, Surrender is the most accomplished and special RÜFÜS DU SOL record to date.
RÜFÜS DU SOL’s “On My Knees” is out now, while their new album Surrender will be released on October 22nd via Rose Avenue and Reprise/Warner Records.
