Close to three years on since the release of their third album, the wait for new music from RÜFÜS DU SOL is finally over, with the group sharing their long-awaited new single, “Alive”.

Premiering on Apple Music’s The Zane Lowe Show overnight, “Alive” is RÜFÜS DU SOL at their absolute best, showcasing haunting lyricism, mesmerising broken beat percussion, and ultimately captures the all-too familiar highs and lows of the year that has been.

With a resonating lyric that states “At least I’m alive“, the track is a deeply personal one, with lead singer Tyrone Lindqvist showing a state of pure, unguarded emotion as his relatable lyrics adorn a typically-luscious, synth-heavy instrumental from the rest of the group.

“It’s a heavier song in some ways, but at its core it’s hopeful,” Lindqvist explains. “We are – all of us – living in this transitional moment right now and we wanted to focus on the hope that the future holds for us all. To focus on the light at the end of this tunnel.”

While “Alive” serves as the first piece of new music from RÜFÜS DU SOL since their ARIA Award-winning, Grammy-nominated Solace, it helps to herald the start of a new chapter for the acclaimed outfit. Meanwhile, the track also arrives following the announcement of their live return. Having sold more than 70,000 tickets in three days for their largest headlining shows to date, it seems as though RÜFÜS DU SOL are on the cusp of something huge.
