RIIKI REID has announced a huge headline show of her hometown.

The rising star will take to the stage at Wellington’s San Fran on June 10th, ready to showcase a wealth of new material.

It will be the singer-songwriter’s first headline show since 2020, as well as being her first headline show since changing her artistic name to RIIKI REID. More recently, she supported Lorde on the New Zealand leg of her Solar Power Tour.

This will be REID’s only headline show in her home country before she heads to Australia for a few months. “My 2nd ever headline. It’s not a gig, it’s a show. New songs, new stage performance, transforming San Fran how you haven’t seen it before,” she declared on social media today. Tickets to the show are now on sale via REID’s official website or Moshtix.

REID was chosen as the Opening Act in the most recent issue of Rolling Stone AU/NZ, and she told us all about this exciting new chapter of her burgeoning career.

REID discussed her well-received 2022 EP Crash & Collide, which was hugely inspired by early Noughties dance music. “There was this one song by Deadmau5, “I Remember”, and I listened to it and was like, ‘I want to make this song!’” she said.

The EP was also influenced by REID’s fond memories of going out with friends in Wellington just after COVID-19 lockdown.

“There was this period of time when my friends and I were going to this Wellington club, 121, every weekend,” she recalled. “It’s all house and techno, it’s really dancey, and the club became a hub for us. It was right after COVID lockdown and it was just that little burst of time where we could go out together, dance a lot, and have fun.”
