Reb Fountain has released “Come Down,” an ode to female friendship.
Recorded at Roundhead Studios in Auckland, this downtempo ballad showcases Fountain’s signature folk-noir style, simmering with tension and mystery.
“‘Come Down’ conjures the feeling you get when out on the town with your crew,” Fountain shares. “In the ecstatic blur of the moment, you’re reminded that you are born free, that you don’t have to be someone else to belong and that shining your light no matter how fragmented, broken or beautiful, brings joy and connection and hope.”
The video features Fountain’s daughter, Lola Fountain-Best, and her best friend, Eve, celebrating platonic love. Shot in Tāmaki Makaurau by Fountain herself, the nostalgic clip follows Lola and Eve on a road trip and hazy night out.
To celebrate the release, Reb Fountain will perform with her full band – Dave Khan, Karin Canzek, and Earl Robertson – at two shows in Wellington and Auckland.
The first show is on Thursday, November 7th, at San Fran in Wellington, followed by a debut performance at The Hollywood Avondale in Auckland on Friday, November 8th. Tickets are on sale now from rebfountain.co.nz.
2024 is shaping up nicely for Fountain.
She delivered a standout set at Camp A Low Hum in February, shared a stirring cover of OMC’s hit “How Bizarre,”and worked on the documentary Escaping Utopia with composer Andrew Keoghan. (“Turns out escaping-a-cult-music is right up our wheelhouse,” she joked on social media.)
Fountain closed out NZ Music Month with an unmissable co-headlining tour alongside 2024 Taite Music Prize winner Vera Ellen and Auckland indie rockers Voom.
