Members of some of Australia’s most beloved acts have come together to sign a guitar which is being raffled off in aid of Support Act.

The raffle comes as part of Support Act’s Help a Mate service which, according to the official website, “provides an opportunity for the music community to raise money for an artist or music worker in crisis”.

With the Australian music industry in crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Support Act has been one of the most relied-upon services by local artists, providing financial aid and counselling, just to name a few of its focuses.

Now, to help raise money for Support Act, 15-year-old Lucas Sutton has launched a raffle which sees some of the biggest names in the Australian music industry chipping in to help out.

“I am a 15 year old student who hopes to one day have a career in the music industry,” Lucas writes on the fundraiser page. “When the industry was shut down due to COVID19 I knew I had to do something.

“When we listen to music we love and follow bands, they become like our mates.”

The major prize up for grabs in the raffle is a Fender Jimi Hendrix Stratocaster Electric Guitar which has been signed by 24 musicians from 14 different Australian bands.

In addition to the likes of Bernard Fanning, Ian Haug, Jon Coghill, and John Collins of Powderfinger, and Luke Henry and Michael Richards of Violent Soho, it also features signatures from acts such as The Chats, DZ Deathrays, Dune Rats, Frenzal Rhomb, and Grinspoon.

Members of Redundants, Pandamic, Blussh, The Grates, WAAX, VOIID, Being Jane Lane, Bad Neighbour, and Semantics have also lent their signature to the major prize.

Though the raffle page doesn’t specify a runner-up prize, Instagram posts shared by the likes of The Chats note that merchandise from the likes of Tones And I, Bad//Dreems, The Amity Affliction, Hockey Dad, and more is also up for grabs.

Raffle tickets are on sale now via the RaffleLink website for $5 each, with those under 18 excluded from entering, and a reminder to purchase tickets responsibly being stated as well.
