Sydney performing arts venue Phoenix Central Park has launched Season V, their latest music program.
Taking place between July and September, Season V’s eclectic program spans a huge variety of genres, including left-field pop, alternative hip-hop, avant-garde classical, and industrial electronica.
“We are delighted to unveil Season V, the next chapter in Phoenix’s journey, teeming with exciting opportunities for audiences to experience diverse, cutting-edge artistry in Sydney’s most beautiful listening room,” Creative Director Beau Neilson shares. “2022 has been Phoenix’s busiest year yet. Since January, over ten-thousand audience members have experienced performances by over 100 artists.”
UK-based indie-pop ensemble Superorganism will host a special night for Season V to celebrate the release of their forthcoming album World Wide Pop. Chinese/Australian avant-garde composer Mindy Meng Wang will make her Sydney debut alongside her Melbourne-based contemporary Tim Shiel with the collaborative series Nervous Energy.
Rising hip-hop stars Agung Mango and Elsy Wameyo will showcase their talents, as will Western Sydney R&B artist A.GIRL, making her return to Phoenix Central Park. Sydney’s contemporary classical composer Damien Ricketson will unveil a new commission, while Cameron Deyell and Laurence Pike will make their debut performances in the program.
