Western Sydney’s finest are back at it again, with ONEFOUR unleashing their first new single of the year by way of “Street Guide (Part 01)”.
Released overnight, the new track is the first in a trilogy of tunes which see the drill collective returning to the unapologetic, energetic sound they’ve become renowned for, all while exploring the concept of honour among thieves.
A sentiment dating back to Ancient Rome, the adage is explored by ONEFOUR in their new series, with the project serving as something of a survival kit on how to navigate society’s underbelly when the odds are against you, and the ultimate penalty is death.
Featuring production from Willstah and I.amsolo, “Street Guide (Part 01)” opens the storyline by illustrating a group of young men who are deep into the violence and disorder that pervades their everyday life. Describing this mindset in terms of being at war, the track outlines a series of rules which serve as a way of providing order for the young med who are trapped within this chaotic world.
The new track comes from a rather prolific year for the Western Sydney outfit, having shared a large number of tracks in 2020. In addition to standalone singles such as “Say it Again” and “Welcome to Prison”, the group also found themselves working with a number of acclaimed artists, including the likes of B Wise, Dutchavelli, and even the likes of Headie One, AJ Tracey, and Stormzy on the remix for “Ain’t It Different”.
Likewise, this latest single also serves as their first new track since the release of their Against All Odds EP in November of 2020. ONEFOUR are also set to hit the stage this evening for their first performance in two years by way of an appearance at Darwin’s Opium Nightclub.
