Australian drill pioneers ONEFOUR have welcomed back a returning member on their first single of 2023.
Titled “COMMA’S”, the song sees Lekks memorably return to the ONEFOUR fold following a three-year hiatus. Longtime collaborator C.G also adds his own touch to the fast-paced, energetic number.
“COMMA’S” features prominent production from Chandler Jewels (Dro Kenji, Example), as well as appearances by viral TikTok musicians Bailey Pickles and Hugo Hui. The latter pair also feature in the single’s accompanying music video, directed by ONEFOUR and Matt Wilson and shot by Aaron Bull (watch below).
Shot in the Sydney suburb of Bidwill, the clip captures the high-octane energy of the song, with Western Sydney dance crew KCC/SUSPECTS adding their own electrifying touch to proceedings.
On their first release of the year, clearly, it feels like ONEFOUR are planning big things in 2023 and beyond, full of returning talent and new flavours.
“We’re always looking to work with new and exciting talents, and Chandler, Bailey, and Hugo working together was perfect for this track. We’re excited to have them onboard,” the group says about the single.
“COMMA’S” is the follow-up to last year’s single, “Cruise Control”, which was one of the Mount Druitt group’s most candid tracks yet, a message of defiance that made clear ONEFOUR’s frustrations with authorities.
As ONEFOUR approach a decade as a group, they’re still right at the forefront of Australian drill music. After first making waves with 2019 singles like “The Message” and “Spot the Difference”, they gained added prominence through their collaborations with the likes of The Kid LAROI and A$AP Ferg.
It’s now been three years since they cemented their place at the pinnacle of Australian rap with their 2020 debut EP, Against All Odds. The EP peaked at number seven on the ARIA Albums Chart and number eight on the NZ Albums Chart.
ONEFOUR’s “COMMA’S” is out now on all digital platforms.
