Australian psychedelic rockers Ocean Alley have announced their return to Aotearoa.
The festival favourites will head to Auckland’s Spark Arena on Saturday, September 23rd for a special one-off headline show. Tickets go on sale on Monday, May 1st at 12pm local time via Ticketmaster NZ.
At the time of writing, this will be Ocean Alley’s only Kiwi show this year. “We won’t be adding any other shows / cities this time round, so if you can make the journey that’d be epic. We’re pumped to see you all again!” the band wrote on social media today.
Ocean Alley are touring the globe in support of their fourth studio album Low Altitude Living, which garnered positive reviews last year. “Ocean Alley makes good on their promise for a compelling — if at times formulaic — album,” Rolling Stone AU/NZ wrote, with frontman Baden Donegal coming in for particular praise.
“In saying that, Baden Donegal has never sounded better — grounding himself as a magnetic frontman who delivers a soaring vocal performance of heady croons. Ultimately, this album will push Ocean Alley further towards major-global-band status.”
Before their return to New Zealand, Ocean Alley are heading to Darwin’s BASSINTHEGRASS next month. Ahead of the beloved festival, the band took Rolling Stone AU/NZ through their top Northern Territory spots, with guitarist Mitch Galbraith gushing about the state’s stunning natural beauty.
“We’re pretty pumped to be playing BASSINTHEGRASS this May in Darwin,” he told fans via video, adding, “We’ve been to Darwin before and had a wonderful time, we’re keen to get back and play some music to the folks up there!”
