Almost one year on from his monumental debut, Music from The Home Front is set to make its return this month, with details being announced today for the ANZAC Day eve event.

Launching its debut edition last year, Music from The Home Front was put together in just nine days by late Mushroom Group founder Michael Gudinski, recruiting some of the biggest names in music to come together for a livestreamed festival. The unprecedented lineup was designed to remind us that we’re not alone, even while the then-nascent concept of social distancing loomed large overhead.

One year on, and two chart-topping physical releases from the event later, Music from The Home Front is set to return this month. According to a press release released alongside the news, the event was one that Gudinski had been working tirelessly toward, remaining at the forefront of his mind right up to the day of his tragic passing last month.

“Dad had many great passions throughout his career, but his love of the local music industry never shone brighter than it did during the last year as we suffered through the impact of COVID-19,” explained Mushroom Group’s newly-announced CEO Matt Gudinski.

“It’s incredibly fitting that Music From The Home Front, a project he was immensely proud of in 2020, was one of the events he was working on right up until his last day. That we can bring to life a broadcast concert version from his hometown of Melbourne, supporting the industry he loved, in a city he long promoted as the leading music capital of Australia, resonates deeply with all of us at Mushroom.”

This year, the performances will be done somewhat differently, with a set of livestreamed concerts set to be take place alongside a series of physical performances at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl.

The Bowl concert will feature performances from the likes of Amy Shark, Bliss N Eso (feat. Kasey Chambers), Budjerah, Jerome Farah, Lime Cordiale, Mia Wray, Tash Sultana, the Rubens, Vance Joy and the Royal Melbourne Hospital Scrub Choir. Meanwhile, Ben Lee, Dean Lewis, Gordi, Hayley Mary, Jess Hitchcock, Jimmy Barnes, Mahalia Barnes, Sam Fischer, the Kid LAROI, Tina Arena, and You Am I will all be sharing streamed concerts, with more names set to be announced.

Tickets to the Bowl concert go on sale from 12pm AEST, Friday, April 16th via the Music from The Home Front website, while pre-sales will take place via Frontier Touring two days earlier. Meanwhile, all performances will be broadcast from 7:30pm local time on Saturday, April 24th via Channel 9, 9Now, and YouTube.
