Three months to the day after announcing both an anniversary reissue and tour of her 2005 album Parking Lots, Mia Dyson has been forced to announce new dates to adhere to COVID restrictions.
Announcing the news back in November, Dyson revealed that while December would bring with it a vinyl reissue of Parking Lots, along with the Parking Lots (Revisited) EP, March of 2021 was set to serve as the kick-off for a run of Australian tour dates which would see the acclaimed artists performing the record in full.
With the tour announced following the easing of widespread COVID restrictions, and scheduled to begin on March 12th Newcastle, it seemed as though these dates would be able to take place without a single hitch. Unfortunately, the uncertain nature of the world has necessitated a small postponement, with the dates now pushed back to later in the year.
“I’m so sad to say that due to forces beyond my control, I am having to postpone my Parking Lots tour to November,” Dyson explained in a statement. “All your tickets will be valid for the new shows except Brisbane where we couldn’t make the routing work and ticket holders will be issued refunds. We’ll get you next time around.
“Unfortunately, this also means I won’t be performing at Bluesfest,” she added. “I can’t wait to see you all when these shows finally do happen. Thanks for your support and patience.”
As Dyson noted, the majority of the dates have remained unchanged, just pushed back to November of this year. However, both her appearances at Byron Bay Bluesfest and at The Brightside in Brisbane have now been cancelled, reducing the amount of shows to just eight.
Tickets to all remaining dates remain valid, while tickets are also still on sale for the rescheduled shows. Meanwhile, copies of Dyson’s Parking Lots album are still available on vinyl via Artist First.
