Melodownz is hosting a special pop-up market in Tāmaki Makaurau this weekend.
The acclaimed hip hop artist confirmed the event on social media yesterday. The pop-up market will take place at East Street Hall on Karangahape Road this Saturday, April 1st, where Melodownz will be selling his latest merchandise, kava, and much more.
Music will be provided by Martina Mak, GARETHXMF, and Groovy T throughout the day. Some tasty Jamaican food will also be served up by Nanny’s Eatery.
The market will be open from 3pm-9pm on Saturday. “Big vibes so come and hang out with us,” Melodownz added on Instagram.
It’s not the first pop-up event put on by the rapper, with one taking place – again on K’ Road – last year around the time of the release of his excellent 2022 album, LONE WOLF.
“There were people I work with in the industry, people I do business with, and then my friends from Avondale and my fans and family,” Melodownz told Rolling Stone AU/NZ about the pop-up event at the time. “It was a combination of people and it was beautiful to see. It was kind of the perfect representation.”
Last year’s pop-up event was a proper community event that featured Samoan food, Kava, an art exhibition, and an album listening session. Melodownz couldn’t believe the diversity of fans that showed up. “There were lawyers and even some homeless people that just caught my interview on the news,” he said. “They were like, ‘I saw your pop-up store was going to be here so this is why we’re here.’”
Following his upcoming pop-up market, Melodownz will be touring Aotearoa in support of his latest album, beginning with a hometown show at Hollywood Avondale on Saturday, April 15th (tickets available here).
