Mallrat has announced a national tour in support of her acclaimed debut album, Butterfly Blue.

Beginning in Brisbane on Friday, May 12th, the Australian popstar will then head to Brisbane, Adelaide, and Sydney, before a final show in Melbourne on Saturday, May 20th (see full dates below).

Tickets for the tour go on sale to the general public on Thursday, February 16th. All of Mallrat’s previous tours have sold out in quick fashion, so fans are advised to act fast. She’ll be ably supported at all shows by rising pop duo Cat & Calmell and bedroom pop musician biblemami.

Released last May, Butterfly Blue reached number six on the ARIA Albums Chart, and was extremely unlucky to miss out on an ARIA nomination in 2022. Featuring a fascinating mixture of pop, rock, and folk touches, Mallray’s record was well worth the wait, following on from three early EPs – 2016’s Uninvited, 2018’s In the Sky, and 2019’s Driving Music.

“I’ve always valued music that is interesting, beautiful and unpretentious,” Mallrat said about her debut album last year. “Something timeless and not reactive. Butterfly Blue was made with that in mind. It’s a demonstration of not pretending to be anyone else.”

Critics were united in their praise for Butterfly Blue. “With her long-awaited and frequently brilliant first album, the Australian artist continues to find sublimeness in the mundane,” The Guardian wrote in a three-star review.

“Australian singer-songwriter Grace Shaw floats between cloud rap and dream pop with the tossed-off affectations of a weary internet princess,” Pitchfork commented in an equally positive appraisal.
