The boy is going on tour: Luke Hemmings has announced a run of Australian headline shows in support of his new EP.
The 5 Seconds of Summer lead vocalist will head to Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane this June to celebrate his upcoming solo record, boy, which is set for release on April 26th. His debut headline dates in his home country will follow shows around the UK, Europe, and North America.
Tickets to the ‘Nostalgia for a Time That Never Existed’ tour go on sale to the general public on Monday, March 18th at 12pm local time. The Vodafone Partner pre-sale kicks off on Wednesday, March 13th at 12pm local time, while the Live Nation Australia pre-sale begins on Friday, March 15th at 1pm local time.
Hemmings last solo album, When Facing the Things We Turn Away From, was a #1 ARIA record in 2021. His follow-up album is led by new single “Shakes”, released earlier this month (listen below).
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Hemmings discussed the vision for his new solo project.
“With this new one, there’s an emotion I can tap into within myself to write songs for this project that I found really freeing, and I’ve understood way more about myself as a person from doing this. It has this loneliness and this yearning to be home again, but in different ways,” he said about boy.
“I’m surrounded by people all the time. I’m in hotels and planes and playing shows and all this stuff, which obviously has great parts in that. But for some reason, I’ve found it more difficult to be on tour recently, just mentally and within myself as a person. I can still tap into that same emotion from the first album, but it seems more refined in a different way because it’s that same feeling, but in a new environment.”
