They’ve conquered their home country’s music scene, and now L.A.B are taking on Australia this month.

The highly prolific Aotearoa outfit will visit Perth, Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne on their Australian tour next month, performing in the latter city twice.

They’ll be supported by fellow Kiwis Summer Thieves, who are preparing for the release of their forthcoming third album, which is set for release later this year.

L.A.B recently announced that their first Melbourne show, which was originally scheduled for Thursday, May 4th, would be moving to Saturday, May 6th (see full dates below). “We wanted to party with you at both shows on the weekend – so you can do the mahi AND have the treats!!” they wrote on social media.

After releasing an album almost every year since 2017, L.A.B head Down Under armed with several huge hits, including the ARIA Gold single “In the Air”. Their last two studio albums – 2020’s L.A.B IV and 2021’s L.A.B V – topped the charts in New Zealand.

The reggae rockers made history at last year’s Aotearoa Music Awards by being the big winner for the second year running. L.A.B won four awards: Recorded Music NZ Te Pukaemi o te Tau/Album of the Year (L.A.B V), Te Waiata Tōtahi o te Tau/Single of the Year (“Mr Reggae”), Te Roopu Toa/Best Group, and Te Kaipuoro Taketake Toa/Best Roots Artist.

It capped off a stellar year for the band, after they also won Best Record at the 2022 Panhead Rolling Stone New Zealand Awards.

By repeating their impressive 2021 haul, L.A.B became the first-ever New Zealand band to win all four awards in two consecutive years. They’re also just the second artist to win the three major awards – Album of the Year, Single of the Year, and Best Group – in consecutive years.
