L.A.B have announced a new album (no prizes for guessing the title).
Continuing their album naming tradition, L.A.B VI will arrive this February, three years after the band’s previous album, L.A.B V, topped the New Zealand Albums Chart.
After recording and releasing their first five albums in a tight five-year span, L.A.B took their time with their new album, writing and recording L.A.B VI for almost two years.
They recorded the album with longtime collaborator Lee Prebble at Wellington’s Surgery Studios, during a busy period of touring across the US, UK, Europe, Australia, and their home country. In between these tours, the band would set up camp at Surgery Studios, writing and recording all day and night at the studios.
L.A.B VI features “Take It Away”, “Casanova”, “Oh No (Pt. 2)”, the Aja-featuring “I Believe”, and new single “Ocean Demon”, which you can listen to below.
To celebrate their new album, the Rolling Stone Aotearoa Awards winners will hit the road for a series of festival appearances at Electric Avenue, Christchurch, Homegrown in Wellington, Bluesfest 2024 in Byron Bay, and Cali Roots Festival and Holo Holo Music Festival in the US. At the beginning of March, they’ll also travel to Hawaii for two special shows alongside reggae-pop group Iration (see full dates below).
