Country-pop singer Kaylee Bell urges all women to take no nonsense from men in relationships in her new single, “Cowboy Up”.
Bell stands up for herself and challenges a man to either step up his game or leave in “Cowboy Up”, a typically barnstorming song from the Kiwi musician.
“Cowboy up or cowboy out,” she confidently says to a would-be love interest. In Bell’s world, men must take accountability for their actions in relationships. “It’s a rodeo but not my first, baby,” she sassily sings.
In the accompanying music video, Bell rides a noble steed right behind a running cowboy in an animated scene (watch below).
“Cowboy Up” is Bell’s first original release since her latest album Nights Like This, which she took to Australia on a debut headline tour in May.
Bell’s Nights Like This album followed a major year for her in 2023: she supported Ed Sheeran on the New Zealand leg of his world tour, she won a CMA Award for Global Country Artist at the 2023 CMA Awards in Nashville, and her single “Boots ‘N All” was a Top 20 crossover hit on New Zealand Pop Radio. Bell also embarked on a solo tour of her home country last year, with extra dates being added due to overwhelming demand.
Having spent the past 14 years travelling back and forth between Nashville and New Zealand, which included opening slots for The Chicks, Brad Paisley, and the aforementioned Sheeran, Bell decided recently to properly relocate to the US city as an independent, self-managed artist.
2024 has been similarly busy. Bell opened for US singer-songwriter Kane Brown on his Australasian tour yesterday at Auckland’s Spark Arena, billed alongside Kameron Marlowe. Bell will continue to support Brown in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth. Bell is also set to perform at Australia’s biggest country music festival, CMC Rocks, and Jim Beam Homegrown next year.
Kaylee Bell’s “Cowboy Up” is out now.
