Australia’s quest for gold at the Paris Olympics will be driven by an uplifting new anthem, created with help from some of our top musicians and athletes.
The song, “Higher” features ARIA Award-winning artist Jessica Mauboy on lead vocals and was written by Australian songwriters Shannon Busch and Stephen Mowat. It all started with musician and producer Will Hyde, who invited Australian athletes to help shape the theme, spirit, and lyrics of their Australian Team Song.
The single is officially out next Thursday, June 11th, and was debuted overnight at the Prime Minister’s Olympic and Paralympic dinner in Melbourne.
“It’s an absolute honour to lend my voice in support of our incredible Aussie athletes,” says Mauboy.
““Higher” captures the spirit and energy of our amazing team, and I know I speak for all Aussies when I say we are thrilled to celebrate their dedication, passion, and the pride they bring to us all.”
“Warner Music is proud to celebrate the dedication and spirit of our Olympians with the Australian Team song “Higher”” says Dan Rosen, Warner Music Australasia President. “Jessica Mauboy’s soaring vocals deliver an inspiring song for our athletes as they go for gold at the 2024 Paris Olympic games.”
Chair of the Australian Olympic Committee and four-time Olympian Cate Campbell adds, “Lyrically it speaks to the reality of an Olympian’s path to the Games and melodically, it’s a killer track. It’s uplifting and a great chorus – I can just see our Olympic athletes in Paris belting this out, some better than others.”
Mauboy will next perform “Higher” live in Paris on Wednesday, July 24, at the launch of the Australian Olympic Committee’s Flag Bearer Ceremony at the French Mint (Accueil Monnaie de Paris). She will also perform “Higher” at the homecoming ceremony for the Australian Olympic athletes in Sydney on Wednesday, August 14, broadcast live on Channel Nine.
